Mothers Day card

It's me and my two sisters. Not really sure which one is which though!

Chatter T-shirt

Another T-shirt. I made this one using letters which were left over from previous T-shirt stencils.

Experimental animation: OOO

OOO from The Juzzard on Vimeo.

A new experimental animation I have made, which you can watch on Vimeo (or just watch it here via Vimeo)

Page out of my sketchbook

Still using the new sketchbook. Here's a doodle-type-thing Gouache paints, which I doodled on top of with fineliner.

T-shirt: I'm with my best friend

Remember this? Well it was a while ago now, but I said I would make t-shirts like the one in this episode of My Cardboard Life...

Well I did. I used some 'permaset' fabric ink over a hand cut stencil. (That's not me in the pic btw)

I'll make more of these, and will put a couple of them in my Etsy shop soon. I want to have a pair so that two best friends can stand together and have the arrows pointing at each other.

Paper Pals

Some new collages. Groups of friends/acquaintances. These are available as greetings cards in my Etsy shop...here

I might do prints as well. Dunno yet. Oh by the way...there was another one which didn't make the cut for the greetings cards:

Those greys are just too dull. Sorry guys. Grey is my favourite colour anyway.

My new sketchbook

I don't normally use a sketchbook. Normally if I want to doodle, or jot down an idea I just use whatever scraps of paper or card are lying around (which, on my desk, is quite a lot) and sometimes I stick them into a book, but usually they end up in a pile of rubbish somewhere, or on the floor (or both)

Everyone says that you're supposed to have a sketchbook, and you're supposed to draw observational pictures in it wherever you go, and write down all your ideas. The trouble is, I feel embarrassed drawing in public, especially drawing people who might not want to be drawn. I also hate writing things down, because seeing things I've written that aren't finished makes me cringe (Does anyone else feel like this?)

Well I've been feeling a bit short of ideas lately, so I've decided its time to have a sketchbook, and keep it, and I'm not going to worry too much about whether its got good or interesting things in it, but if i get one decent idea out of it then it might be a little bit worth it.

I've been using it this weekend, and I've made a set on Flickr with scans out of it...here it
is

Etsy Treasury: Red Letter Day

Today I was lucky enough to get myself a treasury on Etsy. A treasury is a gallery thing where you can put images of your favourite Etsy items. There's a limit to how many people are allowed to have one, and getting one involves a bit of waiting and faffing around.

Here's a bit of a lame screengrab of my treasury. If you want to see it on Etsy, here it is.

I've gone with the theme 'red letter day' and chosen typography related things, which are red (or sort of red).

One of the shops featured on my treasury is FiggyandWink. I found the shop whilst searching around Etsy for my treasury, and it was a great find because they sell some really cool wall decals!

Gamebots - Vinyl Wall Decal

Mod Transport - Set of 15 - Vinyl Wall Decal

These two pics are of my favourite wall decals in FiggyandWink's shop.

the pink frog

This is a doodle on top of a pink ink splat. Does it count as a 'doodle' if you use ink? Well, I think it does in this example because I made it very quickly.

Sadney

What a sad excuse for a plush guy. I'm not sure what he's so sad about.

Sadney is made of white silk. He has poppers on his eyes and his hands, so he can cover up his face.

New prints

Some new digital prints of some of my illustrations are now available in my Etsy shop. "Busy City" and "Multiple Lives".

I discovered some really nice paper to print them on. "Somerset enhanced 100% cotton acid free paper". It's got a really nice texture and the colours come out looking really bright and sharp!

These are small prints, A5 sized. I'll probably add some bigger ones soon.

Here are the listings...

Simon

A new plushie. He's called simon.

He's made of spotty silk.

Here he is in my Etsy shop

Bows

Hair accessories with hand sewn bows! I've made a fair few of these now, and I've just spent ages uploading them to my Folksy shop. There are hairbands and hair clips in several colours and fabrics.

Why on Folksy but not Etsy? Well, for one thing, as I've only got one of each thing, it has to be only one shop, and I feel like I've been neglecting Folksy a bit. The other thing is, there's so much of this stuff on Etsy, They would just get swamped straight away.

Illustration Friday: Intricate

It's an amusing and strange coincidence that the week in which I make a new art zine called 'Intricate Dwellings' the Illustration Friday topic should be 'Intricate'.

This is one of my favourite drawings from the book. It's supposed to be a village where people like to grow a lot of flowers. Most of the houses have sort of watering can type things coming off the sides to water all the plants. A fun game to play with these drawings is to choose which house you would live in. I think I would want to live in one of the houses at the top, because I wouldn't want all that water dripping on me!

This is the zine. It's available in my Etsy shop
